Craigmore Cottages are located in an enviable central position in Mull, one mile from each of all the main routes making an ideal place from which to explore Mull’s north, south, east, and west.  You will save much time, money, and mileage because of Craigmore’s excellent central location, leaving you with more time to relax and enjoy Mull.

In the middle of the three mile wide neck of land that joins northern Mull to southern Mull and the Ross, Craigmore Cottages enjoy a private position on the B8035 yet the village of Salen is only one mile away. With mountains behind, views northward to the stepped lava hillsides of Aros, south facing gardens protected by forest, and wildlife on the doorstep Craigmore has much to offer. The original cottage of Craigmore was built as a drover’s ‘But n Ben’ cottage in 19th century ‘White house’ style, but has been gradually extended and modernised it into a large double cottage, one half of which is let to guests. Craigmore (the name means ‘big rock’ in Gaelic) has just had its isolation ended by the building of Craigmore Cottage, a new cottage built in the traditional style and completed for 2007. Each cottage has a separate garden, and guests are also welcome to enjoy Craigmore’s ten acres of fields across the road from where there are wonderful views towards Loch na Keal and Beinn a Ghraig.

Craigmore has been the home of Nick and Rosalind Jones since 1972. They have had over 30 years experience of letting self-catering properties and have an excellent manager in Mr Clifford Pauley. Mr Pauley lives close by in Salen.

Some views around Mull and its surrounding islands.

Author Rosalind Jones has written several guide books about Mull including ‘About Mull’, ‘Mull in the Making’, ‘The Sea Kingdom – Isle of Mull’, and ‘A Mull-titude of Facts’ (out of print), and is publishing ‘Discover Scotland’s Wildlife’ in 2008, in aid of the Scottish Wildlife Trust.  She will be only too pleased to answer any questions you may have about the island.

Mull is a magical, beautiful, majestic island with so much to offer visitors. One week is not enough to do and see everything but it will give you a very good introduction - for in Mull, there is a saying that holds true – ‘If you come to Mull the once, you’ll return again for sure.’

If you are a couple looking for a well-kept, cosy, comfortable cottage from which to explore Mull without spending extra time driving, then look no further as Craigmore Cottage or Craigmore Beag could suit you very well.
